Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 4 – Afternoon in Twin Falls
We were both starving when we got back from our bike ride, so after a quick shower back at the hotel, we walked across the parking lot to the Black Bear Diner. Wow – what a brunch we enjoyed.
How have we never visited this restaurant chain before now? It’s got an extensive menu and the food was truly delicious. Unfortunately, the only coffee you could order was bog-standard filter coffee.
We managed to get a booth and Vick ordered a 3-egg omelette. I ordered the Griz which comprised two buttermilk pancakes (with maple syrup), together with 2 eggs (over easy), 2 sausages, 2 bacon rashers and some ham, together with hash browns. Stunningly good.
The pancakes were so light and fluffy. Wow…
To be honest, we didn’t feel that stuffed, even though we should have after eating so much. However, that didn’t stop us from popping to a different Starbucks so that we could enjoy our favourite drinks sat outside in the shade. It was heading up towards 30 deg c by late morning.
After a nap in our room, we walked out the other way along the Snake River Canyon Rim Trail, past Elevation 486. The view of the canyon continued to amaze us. We believe it is up there alongside the Grand Canyon as one of the great sights of the modern world (not that we have seen that many of them)!
We wanted to go out for a Thai meal this evening, but a lot of restaurants are closed on a Sun. So, it was Outback for us tonight. It was another short walk along the rim trail, being located close to Starbucks and the Visitors’ Centre, but due to it being hot still, we decided to drive.
I drove out and Vick drove back to the hotel. We got a booth and we both had a chicken dish, with a salad as a starter. Both really nice and relatively low in calories. So, it was a nice change from the normal carb-fest we end up with!
