Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 10 – Fort Bragg to Santa Rosa

After our lunch stop at Fort Bragg, we headed down Highway 1 and carried onto CA State Road 128 East. It seemed to take forever to drive 50-60 miles before we got to a point that anyone could overtake anyone else.  We had followed the same vehicle for 90 mins or so.  At times we had 5 cars in a convoy. Good to get past a few vehicles once we had the chance.

Finally reached Santa Rosa and we had been debating as to whether we had stayed at the hotel before.  We hadn’t; shame we hadn’t realised that before – the Best Western Wine Country hotel we were staying at was very disappointing. 

The Hilton Sonoma Wine Country hotel that we stayed at in 2012 burnt down in 2017 – it’s just across the road from the Best Western.

In the evening we drove into Santa Rosa for dinner. We drove and parked for free in one of the car parks.  That saved us $60 getting a taxi into Santa Rosa and back again – it’s only 5 mins down the road!

Vick had booked the same Italian restaurant that we had visited in our previous trip: Lococo.  Fab meal and we got a table outside. 

After driving back, we guzzled a bottle of Barefoot Rose Muscat bubbly that we had bought from Safeway earlier in the afternoon, whilst watching an all-evening channel of SVU on TV.  We know how to live!
