After a short stay back at the hotel, we headed out to Balboa Park. The sun had warmed things up nicely by 10am so it was great to enjoy walking around the park taking in the sights and the fresh air.
We walked over the bridge and stopped off at the Starbucks we had visited in previous trips to San Diego. We started to feel sleepy, so we headed back into the park, picked up the car and headed back to the hotel.
Late afternoon, we drove north to Escondido where there is a Westfield shopping mall. Nothing to write home about to be honest (the shopping mall that is), but we ended up at The Cheesecake Factory (TCF) and the food was as good as it always is.
This time we went off piste: we shared two main course plates: a chicken madeira (apparently their most popular chicken dish) and Thai chicken, which is fruity, lightly spiced Thai chicken dish with a rich sauce. Both were lovely.
We ordered two lemon raspberry cheesecakes to go. As per our habit of late, we ate them in the hotel room.
