After checking out, we headed SE along CA-111 with the roof down, turning right onto CA-74, up and over the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.  We had discussed the likely drop in temperature as we climbed up the mountain and when we stopped at the main viewpoint, we decided we needed to put the roof back up.

About 60 miles on, as we approached Temecula, we stopped off at our favourite Starbucks on the route.  It was too cold to sit outside, but we found a table inside as lots of people waited for their drinks to be made.  It wasn’t terribly relaxing, but we were enjoying our coffees.

The final 50 miles to Mission Valley, San Diego is always a bit hectic.  It’s much busier on wider freeways but we got through unscathed.
