Holiday to Pacific West Coast in Jun 2012: Day 26 – Las Vegas

Didn’t wake until 7:30am so a good night’s sleep was had by all!

Started off with a swim in a nicely empty beach, and then we bagged two sun chairs for the following 6 hours until we returned.  Naughty but lots of others do it as well.

We then learnt our lesson from yesterday and went to the Bayside Buffet and stuffed our faces for an hour.  Very good food and it wasn’t quite as bad a scrum as we have seen at the Luxor in the past.

After another tennis watching session, we decided to head out and walk up the strip to the Venetian, and we would consider going in Madame Tussauds.  We had to stop off at Ben & Jerry’s on the way for some lemon sorbet to cool off – for medicinal reasons obviously.

We had a good mooch around Venetian – we were surprised how far up it was.  I was convinced it was next to Paris, but it wasn’t!  Anyway took some photos of inside of the Venetian which we both think is by far the best hotel setup, and we took the monorail back to MGM.

We decided not to bother with Madame Tussauds – it was $26 to get in and we had a $5 discount, and we just didn’t think it was going to be worth it.

We had another dip in the pool when we got back and we found Jim, a little flatter to be honest.  Not sure whether someone had been using he, but he was safe and sound.  One of the towels had got soaking wet but other than that, our deck chairs were still there with our stuff on them.  We will do this again tomorrow morning before the rabble turn up.

Thinking about dinner now – we may pop over to the Rainforest Cafe in MGM so that we can get a salad or something light. Or alternatively Vick wants to go back to the Noodle Shop for their fab chicken pad thai.  I expect she’ll win this argument, I always give in because she is so wonderful [I didn’t write that bit].

Dinner turned out to be a bit of a waste – we looked at the Noodle Shop menu and I decided there wasn’t much choice, so we headed over to the Rainforest Cafe and the food wasn’t brilliant; the cocktails we had weren’t brilliant, and in the end we agreed we should have stuck to Plan A.

Stats for Day 26: 0 miles.

Plan for tomorrow is to fly to Seattle – this is part of our late CR to get us back onto our original flight plan since we couldn’t change our final flight back home.  It’s a 4pm flight so we will be able to chill at the Beach until 1pm or so.
