Holiday to Pacific West Coast in Jun 2012: Day 22 – Sacramento to Fresno
Today we continue our trip back down south on our way to Las Vegas. Unfortunately the tennis is on, and I can see lots of delays on the way. All I can hope for is lots of rain delays…
After another hearty breakfast at HGI, we hit the road and headed to Fresno. We stopped for coffee at Starbucks (recurring theme eh?). Unfortunately we chose a drive through Starbucks which didn’t have an “inside”, so we had to place an order at one window and then run round to the next window to pick up our coffees, and make car noises…
It didn’t take us long to finish off our journey to Fresno. When we checked in to the Homewood Suites, Gina asked why we had come to Fresno – she couldn’t understand why anyone comes to Fresno! Great start!
We had a swim in the “heated” swimming pool – surprise, surprise it wasn’t heated. But we braved it out. We also sorted all the laundry – last wash before heading home – apparently my socks came out much better than in SF!
Since Fresno was such an awful place to be (according to Gina) we decided to go to Whole Foods Market and buy food and wine in for a night in, instead of going out. On the way we came across a Cheescake Factory and downtown actually looked ok. So we had a big dilemma – buy a DIY salad, or go to the CF? Vick won in the end and we had to slum it with a DIY salad!!!!
Anyway, ended up watching the Batchelorette, with this fit woman and 6 guys in Prague. She went out with each of them, snogged each and the blokes got all emotional – it’s a classic elimination show.
Stats for Day 22: 175 miles.
Plan for tomorrow is to visit the Sequoia National Park before finishing at Bakersfield.
