Another exciting day in a random US city! Today it was Segway day in Burlington. Last minute decision but a great one – it made our day!

There was a Starbucks just up the road from the hotel, so that was a great start to the day at around 5:30am. It wasn’t the nicest Starbucks we have ever been in, but it did the job just fine!

Breakfast was enjoyed in the hotel. Vick went for her healthy yoghurt and fruit. I went for the English muffin, butter and jam option. Excellent!

We had the entire day in Burlington today, and Vick was concerned we may not have enough to do.

We had debated about trying to go to Montreal for the day, but decided there was too much driving involved. Anyway, a good excuse for booking another holiday!

We tried ringing a Segway tours place in Burlington from my mobile and received a “this number cannot receive a call at this time – please try again later” or something like that.

Later in the day we concluded this was something to do with my mobile phone, but it meant we resorted to Facebook messaging and an email to Burlington Segways.

They were happy to accept us on a tour at 10am.

We ended up being the only guests on this particular tour. We asked for a 2-hour tour (by email) but paid for and ended up with a 90 min tour which was just what we needed.

Rick and Wren were great! Very friendly and knowledgeable.

Wren was obviously the rookie learning the ropes, but did a great job. Rick was just very experienced with loads of great stories to tell. We enjoyed the tour a lot.

We didn’t stop that often, but we stopped at some good places for photos, which is what we wanted.

After finishing the tour, we decided to leave a decent tip. It was clear the summer hasn’t been that great for the business, and we are happy to support local businesses.

We wandered into Church Street – the very nice pedestrain area. We found an amazing coffee and lunch place called Black Cap, which served fab lattes and toasted sandwiches.

Back to the hotel and Vick did some local shopping and I did some work in the afternoon. A snooze later and it was time to get ready for dinner!

We enjoyed dinner at Windjammer, which is part of the Best Western hotel located next to Starbucks, so it was just a short walk down the road.

We reserved a table in the dining room and secured a booth, which was great.

We started off with an iceberg wedge between us. It was huge and really refreshing.

An excellent start to our meal.

Vick knew what she wanted to order within seconds of seeing the menu.

Her Chicken Statler was really tasty, filled with borsain wrapped in bacon. Hmmmm…

I ended up with another rib eye steak, which was lovely. I enjoyed a baked potato and ordered some Brussels sprouts with bacon which were to die for.

Even Vick wanted more!

Moving on to Manchester, Vermont tomorrow. Not that far to go, so planning on doing some walking!
