It’s Cheesecake Factory day today! First opportunity for us on this trip to enjoy our favourite restaurant.
We were supposed to be staying over at Springfield on the way to Cape Cod, but we decided a couple of days ago to bypass Springfield and spend an extra day on the coast.
The day didn’t start with a sleep-in as we had hoped, but we fitted in a Starbucks visit at around 6am.
Starbucks was a 15 min walk from our hotel, but it was nice to stretch our legs.
Lots of driving today, so we needed to take advantage of a few steps whenever we can.
We decided to split the trip into three, all about 90 mins in length and about 60-90 miles.
After a bowl of oatmeal in the hotel, we hit the road on part 1 of our drive for today: heading south towards Northampton, Massachusettes.
It’s amazing how many places share the same name as places in the UK.
This part included 40 miles of single lane windy roads, but luckily we weren’t held up by any traffic until a few miles prior to joining the interstate.
Then it was full throttle to Starbucks in Northampton.
In Starbucks, we saw a guy waiting for his drink with his glasses sat on his top lip. He looked really odd.
For part 2 of our drive today, we would build toward the highlight of the day: The Cheesecake Factory at Providence, Rhodes Island.
It was interstate just about all the way, so no concerns over traffic.
We arrived at TCF just after opening time, so there were no issues with getting a booth.
We ordered slowly, enjoying our chocolate bread and stuffed mushrooms.
Later, we ordered our lunchtime salads and finally our cheesecakes to go.
We had a wander into Oakley and managed to trade in her naff sunglasses for 50% off a new pair of Half Jacket sunglasses. That was a good deal!
Part 3 of our drive took us on to Cape Cod, which again was interstate most of the way. Only the last couple of miles were slow.
Our studio suite was ready and we were pleased to be able to have a snooze.
We discovered a problem with using my personal WiFi hotspot. The Hampton wifi blocked my WiFi and any devices that had connected to my personal hotspot.
We drove out to pick up some milk, wine, cheese and water, prior to me watching the F1 qualifying. The weekend was packed full of sport.
Enjoyed cheese and biscuits for supper, together with our cheesecakes.
We planned our busy weekend and after being forced to switch rooms, we chilled out for the rest of the evening.
