I was second off behind the first officer, and it took a while to work out my bearings in the airport.

I was concerned about going too far and missing transit security, but it became pretty obvious.

Transit security was empty, and other than forgetting to take my belt off (again), it was a breeze.

Flight:

Once through security, it wasn’t entirely clear as to how to get back to the gates.

I worked it out in the end, but I guess the number of different signs becomes confusing if you are looking for one specific sign.

On into seat 01F and I received a warm welcome from the cabin crew. I was starting to flag by this point and was keen to get home.

With another challenge in catching the Hilton Hoppa bus, it was likely that I wouldn’t be home until 10:30pm.

It was raining in Madrid when we pushed back, so i was pleased I was safely on board my flight back home.

Dinner on the way home was fab. Sticky chilli chicken with rice. It was hot and tasty.

Unfortunately, the starters had regressed to BA’s normal, but the meal was appreciated.

The cabin crew offered to provide some alcohol for Mrs Billingham, which I politely turned down.

I was dopey for most of the flight, but I don’t think I missed anything exciting.

We arrived into Gate B42 but was able to get off first. I thanked the cabin crew who gad been great.

I’d already missed the 20:51 hoppa, so it was the 21:21 for me.
