After our amazing start to our third day of our holiday, and topping that off with a breakfast stop at our local Starbucks on Vine Street, we had big plans for the afternoon.

I couldn’t allow Vick to spend any time in LA without heading up to the Griffiths Observatory to have a look around.
The position of the observatory provides some stunning views of the surrounding area and some interesting exhibits and shows to boot.
We took an Uber up about an hour before it was due to open. I had issues the last time I was here.
It was so busy, that they weren’t allowing any traffic up to the drop off area, which meant I needed to walk an extra mile or so uphill, just to reach the tourist attraction.

I didn’t really want Vick to have to do that after having already completed about 20,000 steps!
The Uber trip itself was a bit of a disaster. The driver decided to ring his wife on the phone as we drove up Vine Street, and he wasn’t watching the road properly, when he drove through a red light and almost had a collision with a car coming from the right.
It was one of those surreal moments, when I had realised what was happening, I started saying “red light, red light”. But you doubt whether you have really seen what you think you have seen?

A collision was averted, which was the important outcome and we reached the observatory in one piece.
There were some wedding photo sessions going on when we arrived. There were at least two couples and some very extravagant directors/photographers trying to manipulate their subjects to get the very best possible shot.
As soon as they left the front door, we started queuing and wihtin a few mins, the queue was as far as you could see.
Slight exageration, but we did well getting inside first and securing tickets for the first planetarium show: The Water of Life. It was the same show that I watched when I was in last May.

It was nice and warm in the sun by this time, but it was still pretty chilly in the shade. So we maximised our time in the sun at every opportunity.
We ordered an Uber to take us back to the hotel. Vick had found a nice-looking Mexican near to Hollywood Boulevard, so that was the next focus for the day.
We walked up towards Hollywood Boulevard and found Trejo’s Cantina, which turned into one of the discoveries of the holiday so far.
Even better, we got there in time for happy hour!

We started off with some free tortilla chips and salsa dip. Then we ordered some nachos as a starter, which were so tasty!
For main course, Vick just had a taco and I ordered a steak burrito, which was so good. I so wanted to eat it all, but we both decided we wanted to leave some room for some Ben & Jerry’s!

We found another CVS close by and purchased our pudding, then walked back to the hotel.
At the hotel, Vick presented me with some stolen tea spoons, which were perfect for eating ice cream with. The naughty girl! Well done Vick!
There’s nothing better than easting ice cream in bed!
