The Hoppa shuttle bus dropped us at bus stop 17/18 on the arrivals level. We had already thought through the potential return trip when we got back from Dublin.

We were due to arrive back into Heathrow at 9:40pm, so the next shuttle bus would be leaving at around 9:50pm. They were every half an hour, so there was a chance we might time it well.

If not, we would resort to catching an Uber, rather than waiting up to 30 mins for the next bus.

The Vickster would be a bit cranky by then as well.

We got our passports checked as we headed through The First Wing, ahead of our Heathrow to Los Angeles flight tomorrow.

The First Lounge didn’t look too busy, but the CCR seemed busier than normal. Perhaps there were more GGL members trying to take advantage of the lounge whilst they still could?

The execution of our eating plan continued in earnest, although our early dinner on the terrace was a bit earlier than we expected – Vick was famished by 2:30pm.

It was likely that we might need a feeding top-up on the flights to/from Dublin.

We both had a salad as a starter, followed by the beef, which received mixed reviews.

We also sneaked into the First Lounge for a cold, stale scone with lots of jam and cream. Cue a quick complaint to BA and within a few hours, 5,000 Avios into each of our accounts.

The flight to Dublin was due to arrive into Gate 414 at Dublin, and based on my previous connecting experience at Dublin, it should be an easy transfer back to the gate for reboarding.

We stretched our legs by walking around the terminal. No celebs in evidence today.

Our flight departed from Gate A20, and we took advantage of Group 0 boarding. As normal, we had to queue on the air bridge for 5 mins, but no big deal.

On into seats 01F/01D, and we started listening to Suits: A Sidebar podcast. We were on different episodes, but I suspected we might be on the same episode by the end of this trip.

We were prompt in pushing back, and we didn’t hang around before we were on the runway.

Things didn’t slow up once we were in the air! The meal service started almost immediately, which was a nice change.

The meal choice was salad or salad, so we both went for the salad. To be fair, mine was pretty tasty. Vicks not so much since she went for the veggie option.

The rest of the flight seemed to fly by (pardon the pun), and we were soon on final approach into Dublin.

We officially arrived into Gate 414, and as with other airports, the gate numbering visible from the apron didn’t match up to the official gate number. So from the apron, we parked up at Gate 401.

The crew had been really good on the flight over. We let them know that we would be heading back with them. They weren’t surprised, and it was nice to see them happy to chat.

1 stale scone = 5000 Avios points. Not a bad exchange rate ;-)
