Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 13 – Early Morning in Bakersfield

In contrast to the previous night, we both woke up after 6am having slept really well.  So, finally on US time and we are heading back home tomorrow!  😊

We walked out to a Starbucks which was within sight of the hotel.  Best Starbucks we have had all holiday and we told the barista.  We have been to 20+ Starbucks’ and the drinks we had this morning were frothy and (for me) the syrup was just about sitting on top of the milk.  Fab.

Back to the hotel and this HGI is one of the few that remain offering Diamond members completely free breakfasts (rather than offering a $10 credit).  That meant we overdid it on the food front.  Vick had an omelette with potatoes; I started off with cereal, followed by 2 muffins, followed by bacon, sausage, potatoes and green peppers, followed by pancakes.  Wow!

Very nice hotel.  Corridors are a bit dingy looking, but the rooms on the fourth floor look like they have been renovated (or are very new), a reasonable size and comfy.

Not a great deal to do here, but it’s very busy – loads of business going on here.  It still surprises us both as to how many shopping malls and small retail stores keep cropping up all over the US.  How do they all make money?
