Holiday to the Pacific West Coast in Aug 2006: Day 21 – Las Vegas

Another excellent breakfast was followed by a late drive into Vegas.  Since this was our last day in Vegas and we would have a very early start tomorrow we wanted to be back to the hotel early.

We parked at MGM Grand and got the monorail up to Paris.  Paris was very well developed – some great ideas including a half size version of the Eiffel Tower and L’Arc de Triomphe.

The ‘legs’ of the Eiffel Tower come through the ceiling of the casino!  We went up the Eiffel Tower and got some good photos of the strip, including the Bellagio musical fountain show across the road.

Wandered down the road to New York, New York.  Unfortunately the coaster wasn’t working – not sure why.  Not a great deal to this hotel so we moved on to Luxor where we got lunch at their buffet, which was pretty good.

Whilst at the Luxor we watched an IMax movie about the River Nile which was really interesting and went round the Tutankhaman exhibition (which wasn’t very exciting really).  The Luxor is definitely worth a look – all Egyptian styling and the hotel rooms are all inside the massive pyramid – not sure how the lifts work !

Vegas is mad but also hugely entertaining.  You have to see it to believe it.

After 3 days there, we’re ready to leave this artificial world, but we’d love to come back.

We headed back to our hotel later in the afternoon and had dinner at the Irish pub again, and hit the sack early.  Feels like we’re on the way home.
