Holiday to Pacific West Coast in Jun 2012: Day 28 – Seattle

Slept til 7:30am (which is good for me)!  Went to breakfast on the top floor with good views of Seattle.  20% chance of rain today (remember that).

Breakfast was a bit odd and the exec floor layout was odd as well.  Service wasn’t good, and the area was split across different rooms, which had different ambiences – very odd, and not a good one.  It’s the sort of thing that wouldn’t take much to sort out and improve the quality, but it would need a little investment and a change in attitude.

After breakfast we headed out to make the most of our one full day in Seattle.  We started off at Pike Market – the fruit and veg were really colourful.  We tried to steer clear of the fresh fish which Vick was not keen on.  In the same location we went to the original Starbucks and Vick saw a Mexican-looking fat guy steal something from inside the store.  No one batted an eyelid even after we told one of the staff – probably happens regularly.  I expected Vick to rugby tackle the fat guy as he left the store but she was so shocked she was rooted to the spot.

After a heavy few hours of sightseeing we headed back to the hotel and watched the last 10 mins of the Euro 2012 final – we didn’t see the sending off and that obviously killed the game, but sounds like it was a fair result.

In the afternoon we decided to head to the Great Wheel (effectively a ferris wheel like the one in Manchester).  We queued up for 30 mins and got on to a pod with an Indian guy who had been at an AMD developer conference, his son, and his Dad who had come over from India.  Not very stimulating conversation but his son was funny playing with his Iron Man suit.

We decided to miss out on lunch and we headed to the Cheesecake Factory late afternoon.  Another good meal – the fillet mignon was beautiful – really tender.  We took the cheesecakes home with us and scoffed them in the hotel room whilst we were watching the second part of the News Room, which was another fast moving episode.

Stats for Day 28: 0 miles.

Expecting a long day tomorrow – we need to get up at 3am and head to the airport for our 6am flight to Chicago.
