Having deplaned at about 12:50pm, I was at the Hilton Waikiki Beach hotel with key in my hand heading for the lifts 30 mins later. That’s pretty good going considering the Uber driver took the slow route.

Whilst checking in, I bagged an upgrade onto the 33rd floor with two queen beds with a sea view. Nice. This hotel is fast becoming my favourite hotel in Waikiki. They always upgrade me on to a high floor with a fab sea view.

The weather for the rest of the afternoon in Waikiki remained pretty dry. I had checked the forecast whilst I was here and for all three of my trips, the forecast was based around rain, so perhaps I have been a tad unlucky with the weather. At least it wasn’t forecast to be cold!

I chilled in my room for a fair amount of the afternoon. These trips catch up with you eventually, but my need to chill didn’t stop me from popping out to The Cheesecake Factory (TCF) for an afternoon “snack”!

Waikiki was really busy; tourists had clearly taken the opportunity to get out and see Waikiki after all of the rain. This place feels so familiar now; I feel a bit like a local. I appreciate that three trips for 36 hours in the space of two months hardly constitutes evidence of being a local, but it’s a lovely feeling that you know a place and feel like you fit in, in some way.

As I got back to the hotel, the weather turned a little. It was a little cooler, it was a bit breezier and there were spots of rain in the air. I think I timed it perfectly!

I had been monitoring ticket availability for the Pearl Harbor Arizona Memorial for Sunday. It looked fully booked, but a few tickets became available at around 3pm, so I snaffled one. I’ve got my boat ride booked in for 9:45am tomorrow. If the rain and thunderstorms stay away, that will be something nice to do during the day.
