Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 6 – Early Morning in La Grande

Another early rise this morning, but we had enjoyed enough sleep to start our day with a walk down to the local Starbucks.

This morning’s walk wasn’t the most attractive walk, since we had to walk alongside the main road out of La Grande and crossing two ramps on/off the I84.  It was 17 deg c this morning and it felt much warmer than our first morning walk in Twin Falls (13 deg c).  Warm enough for us to sit outside whilst we drank our coffees.

We reviewed our plan for the day.  Not too long a drive (195 miles or so); no significant stops along the way other that one or two possible viewpoints.  We had debated about whether we would partake in breakfast at the Best Western, but we decided to pick up some breakie at our Starbucks pit stop.  The dining room at the Best Western looked too much like a Hampton Inn with paper plates and the like.

Our Thoughts on the Best Western, La Grande

We are having an ongoing legal dispute with Best Western, West Yellowstone, so Best Western isn’t our first choice when staying away from home.  In La Grande, there’s no Hilton that we could have chosen instead.  Although we could have driven a further 50 miles to stay at Pendleton.

The Best Western at La Grande isn’t that impressive; the room we chose was clean and a good size with a separate seating area.  The breakfast didn’t look that inspiring so we didn’t bother hanging around to try the food.

Our Thoughts on La Grande

It’s a place to stop over and that’s about all you can say about La Grande.  It did have some half-decent restaurants though.
