Holiday to New England in Oct 2023: Day 1 – Home to London Heathrow
Our first day promised to be an exciting start to our latest holiday excursion – this time to New England in the Fall. But issues with our hot water tank back home were weighing on our minds.
On the one hand, we were very relaxed because we were not leaving until midday, so we had all of the morning to finish off our last packing and getting the house ready for us being away. But the issues we uncovered yesterday evening with our lack of hot water and a minor leak on our hot water tank, meant we were not as relaxed as we hoped to be.
As normal before heading off on hols, we did a short cat walk just before leaving and left some biscuits down for Mango and Chutney to distract them.
Turning our attention now to our holiday! The time to leave the house was subject to careful negotiation. Vick started the bidding at 2pm; I started at 10am. Funnily enough we ended up in the middle at midday.
At midday in the middle of the week, it’s a great time to drive to Heathrow – the roads were clear and very little concerns over traffic.
We arrived at Heathrow about an hour later. First time we have used the T5 Long Stay Parking at Heathrow and we were lucky with timing. We parked in section D9 and a bus turned up within about a minute of us arriving at the D bus stop. Onwards to T5!
